Hard to know what’s appropriate at the moment but because I’ve talked about my friend Dr Uchenna Okoye so much on this site it feels right to let you know that she has died very unexpectedly.
I loved being her friend – she was one of life’s joys – persuasive, ambitious, kind, loving and impossibly hard working. She was such an asset to the beauty industry and immersed herself in it dispensing advice and specializing in treating those who had a fear of dentistry.
Her heart was always good, her daughter her biggest blessing in life and she was such a proud, proud mum. She made fun of me all the time for not being a ‘hugger’ and sometimes squished one in anyway. I’ll miss her to my last days – not least because she’s in my smile every morning and last thing at night. I didn’t want my teeth straightening but here I am, with a much better smile than I ever had because she was adamant that I’d like it after she’d done it. And I do. I’m really so sorry that she is gone. She has a loving family with strong faith and I hope it sustains them in some way as we all get used to life without her.
